EMBASSY OF THE FRENCH REPUBLIC IN MUSCAT

Introduction: The relationship between the French Republic and the Sultanate of Oman entered a historic new era of strategic alignment following the official State Visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to Paris on June 28–29, 2026. Invited by President Emmanuel Macron, this visit marked the first official travel of an Omani ruler to France since 1989. The landmark summit culminated in the signing of 12 bilateral agreements, memoranda of understanding (MoUs), and declarations of intent. Managed through the French Embassy in Muscat, this modern partnership focuses on industrial transitions, green energy infrastructure (solar and hydro), public water governance, space tech cooperation, and high-level transport systems like the Muscat Metro project.
