Visas to enter Oman
The system is now primarily digital. Most travelers use the "14-Day Visa Free" rule or apply for an eVisa before flying. Visa on Arrival is being phased out for many categories in favor of the online system.
1. The "14-Day Visa Free" Rule (G103)
Oman allows citizens of 103 countries to enter for up to 14 days without applying for a visa.
Eligible Countries: Includes the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, most EU/Schengen countries, Russia, China, India*, etc.
Conditions:
You must have a hotel booking.
You must have health insurance.
You must have a return ticket.
Strict Limit: You cannot extend this stay. If you overstay, the fine is heavy (10 OMR per day).
*Note for India, Egypt, Jordan, etc.: For some nationalities on this list, the exemption is conditional. You usually need a valid visa or residence permit from the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Japan, or a Schengen country to qualify for the 14-day free entry.
2. Tourist Visas (Visit Visas)
If you plan to stay longer than 14 days, you should apply for an eVisa (Type 26).
10-Day Tourist Visa (26A): For short trips (often used if you aren't eligible for the free 14 days).
30-Day Tourist Visa (26B): Single entry, extendable once by another 30 days.
1-Year Multiple Entry Visa (36B): Allows you to stay up to 30 days per visit.
How to Apply: strict use of the official Royal Oman Police eVisa Portal.
Warning: Avoid third-party "visa agent" websites that charge high service fees.
3. For GCC Residents (Expat Residents of UAE, Qatar, etc.)
If you live in a GCC country and have a valid residence visa there, you can apply for the GCC Resident Visa (Type 29).
Cost: 5 OMR (cheaper than standard tourist visas).
Condition: Your "profession" on your GCC residence ID must appear on the approved list of professions (Manager, Engineer, Doctor, etc.). If your visa says "Laborer" or "Clerk," you may not be eligible for this specific low-cost visa.
Entry: You can usually enter easily by land (driving) or air.
4. Employment & Residence Visas
You cannot apply for these yourself; your sponsor (employer) must do it.
Employment Visa: Your employer secures a labor clearance and visa. You enter Oman, take a medical test, and get your Resident Card (Civil ID).
Family Joining Visa: Once you have a residence card and meet the salary minimum (usually 600 OMR/month), you can sponsor your spouse and children (under 21).
5. Important Rules to Know
Passport Validity: Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival.
Overstay Fines: Oman is strict. Fines are 10 OMR (approx. $26 USD) for every day you overstay.
Visa on Arrival: While technically still available for some G103 nationalities, airlines often deny boarding if you don't have the eVisa or proof of exemption. It is highly safer to get the eVisa beforehand.

⚠️ Warning on Scam Sites
When searching on Google, you will see many ads for sites like "OmanVisa.org" or "iVisa.com".
Do not use them. They are private companies.
They often charge 3x or 4x the actual price just to type your data into the official website for you.
Always look for
.gov.omat the end of the web address to ensure it is official.
