EU Connectivity and Maritime Excellence

The Republic of Cyprus

As fellow maritime nations with strategic geographic locations, Cyprus and Oman share a partnership focused on maritime security, tourism, and regional stability. Cyprus serves as Oman's gateway to the European Union's Mediterranean framework, while Oman provides Cyprus with a stable partner in the Gulf. In 2026, the mission is focused on integrating Omani logistics with Mediterranean shipping corridors and fostering elite tourism exchanges between the two "islands of stability.

🏗️ THE ECONOMIC BRIDGE: 2026 STRATEGIC INTELLIGENCE

I. The EU Council Presidency 2026

As Cyprus leads the EU Council under the motto "An Autonomous Union. Open to the World," it is prioritizing cross-regional connectivity. This presidency provides the Sultanate with a direct, high-level voice in Europe, facilitating new dialogues on energy sustainability, the Southern Neighbourhood, and the Oman-EU Free Trade ambitions.

II. IMEC and Maritime Logistics Integration

Cyprus is the primary European maritime node for the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC). In 2026, Omani and Cypriot authorities are collaborating to integrate the Sultanate’s ports into this visionary corridor, leveraging the Limassol Regional Logistics Hub to strengthen global supply chain resilience.

III. The 2026 Double Tax Treaty (DTT)

Effective as of January 1, 2026, the landmark Double Tax Treaty has removed financial barriers for investors. This framework, combined with the Maritime Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence, has created a secure, low-tax environment for joint ventures in blue economy technology and undersea electricity interconnectors.
