International Monetary Fund (IMF)

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) works with the Sultanate of Oman through annual Article IV consultations to monitor economic health and provide technical expertise on fiscal policy. In 2025 and 2026, the IMF has highlighted Oman’s successful debt reduction and robust non-hydrocarbon growth. The Fund provides the critical "Global Audit" that gives international investors confidence in the Sultanate’s macroeconomic stability.

 
  • Key 2026 Functions:

    • Economic Surveillance: Providing independent analysis of the 11th Five-Year Development Plan (2026-2030) to ensure long-term sustainability.

    • Technical Assistance: Supporting the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) in transitioning to an active liquidity management framework.

    • Structural Advice: Recommending policies to narrow the public-private wage gap and increase female labor force participation.
