International Labour Organization (ILO)

The International Labour Organization (ILO) provides the Sultanate with the technical assistance needed to modernize its labor market. Since the issuance of the New Labour Law (Royal Decree 53/2023), the ILO has worked closely with the Ministry of Labour to ensure that Omani regulations meet international "Decent Work" standards. This partnership focuses on balancing the rights of the workforce with the economic needs of the private sector.

 

Key 2026 Functions:

  • Technical Cooperation: Refining the Regulation Governing Labour Authorisation and Work Permits (2026 updates) to ensure fair employment.

  • Omanization Support: Providing best practices for integrating national talent into high-tech and specialized industrial roles.

  • Social Dialogue: Promoting collective labor agreements and effective communication between employers and employees.
