Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)

The GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) is the cornerstone of Oman’s regional diplomacy and trade. In 2026, the GCC focuses on "Physical Integration" through massive infrastructure projects like the Hafeet Rail (Oman-UAE Railway). This regional partnership allows Oman to act as a primary gateway for goods entering the Gulf, leveraging its strategic position outside the Strait of Hormuz.

Key 2026 Functions:

  • Logistics Integration: Coordinating the GCC Railway Network to streamline freight and passenger movement between Sohar and Abu Dhabi.

  • Unified Customs: Implementing standardized trade protocols to ensure the seamless flow of Omani products across GCC borders.

  • Strategic Security: Working on unified food and energy security strategies to protect the region from global market volatility.
