3 main characters in GTA 5

Franklin Clinton

An ambitious young man from the poor neighborhoods seeking a better life, skilled at driving cars.

Start with Franklin – He is the first character you play. Complete his missions to progress.

Green missions are for Franklin.

Example: In the picture, you can see the green "F" this shows a Franklin mission. These only appear when you are playing as Franklin.

Michael de Santa

Michael De Santa – A retired criminal living a luxurious life, but he faces family problems.

Unlock Michael – After Franklin’s missions, Michael becomes playable. Complete his missions as well.

Blue missions are for Michael.

When you switch to Michael, you'll see blue markers like "M" on the map for his story missions.

Trevor Philips

Trevor Philips – Michael’s former friend, a violent and crazy person living a chaotic life in the desert.

Unlock Trevor – After completing key missions with Franklin and Michael, Trevor is unlocked.

Orange missions are for Trevor.

When you play as Trevor, his missions will be marked with orange letters like "T".

To switch characters in GTA 5

press and hold the character switch button (on consoles, this is usually the Down button on the D-pad).

This will bring up the character wheel displaying the three main protagonists: Michael, Franklin, and Trevor.

Use the right stick or directional buttons to highlight the character you want to switch to, then release the switch button to complete the transition.

The game will then cut to that character's location, allowing you to continue gameplay from their perspective. Character switching is available during free roam but is restricted during certain missions.

Example for the map

The map allows you to monitor objectives or navigate to any point of interest by setting a waypoint.

Player Information (Top-Right Corner):
In the top-right corner of the screen, you’ll find important details about your character, including their portrait, the current in-game time, and your available cash. This allows you to easily keep track of which character you're playing, how much money you have, and the time within the game world.

The player is driving toward a selected mission, which is marked as a waypoint on the mini-map in the bottom-left corner. The yellow route provides guidance to the destination the player previously chose on the main map
